Kids College is open to those going into grades 3– 8 in the 2009-10 school year.
Students will choose two topics from the following sessions: You’re the Cook! – Turn snack time, lunchtime and any mealtime into fun time when YOU are the cook! Explore ways of making ordinary foods appetizing, experiment with recipes and then enjoy them! Don’t worry parents, it’s all good eating! Art Smart—Learn about different periods of art; make a collage, decoupage and make paper. Theatre: Acting it Out! -- This is one place where making it up as you go is encouraged! Learn to improvising, create interesting scenarios/skits. You’ll also get a hands-on introduction to stage direction, presence and many other entertaining aspects of theatre… on a REAL theatrical stage. A Blast from the Past—Discover the art of quilting and make your own quilt block or pillow. Mad About Science -- If you love science and inventing—this class is for you. We will have hands-on experiments utilizing lab coats and goggles in an actual chemistry lab. You become the scientist creating surprise concoctions! American Girl Fun—Explore different types of crafting and make fun accessories for you and your American Girl doll. Embroidery, scrapbooks, paper crafting, clay food, friendship bracelets and more. No Boys Allowed – Fun girl’s crafts—French knitting, bath fizzies and soap, scrabble tile necklaces, paper crafting, and tie dye t-shirts with sharpies. No Girls Allowed—Fun boy’s activities—Model cars, rockets, planes and more! Rocket into Space—Build and launch your own rocket. We will work together to understand what makes a rocket a rocket and predict its flight path. Each student will help build a rocket. Rockets safely launched on the last day under adult supervision. Book Adventures—Share some wonderful adventures with books! Each day this class will host a party for a different children’s book character with stories, songs, games, projects, and activities. Session one will be for 1st and 2nd graders—They will be a detective with Nate the Great, make puppets with Pinkerton, and more! Session two will be fore 3rd through 8th graders—They will go on a mystery hunt with Cam Jansen, make inventions with Henry Reed, and lots of other exciting activities!
Registration/TuitionTuition for each 4-day camp is $75. This covers the entire instructional program, including materials, kits, & a T-shirt. Tuition must be included with the registration form. No refunds once a student is accepted. Kids College is filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The completed registration form, consent form and payment should be mailed to: Campbellsville University Technology Training Center 1 University Drive UPO 799, Campbellsville, KY 42718 Time and LocationKids College will meet four consecutive mornings. Students will be in class from 9:00 to 11:45 a.m. (ET) each day. There will be a short 15-minute break where refreshments will be provided. Students MUST be picked upon later than Noon each day.
